Acts Of The Apostasy: Underwhelming

In LarryD's words:

"...the push for women's fauxrdination, whether it be Protestant or Catholic, is not to win souls for Christ, but to win "equality" and "fairness" for feminists. It has nothing to do with orthodoxy or truth, but everything to do with self-fulfillment and pride."

(By the way, "fauxrdination" - I'm still laughing at this word as I type. Classic.)

At his public audience on March 10, Pope Benedict XVI argued that the Church remains the same throughout history. While new movements and reforms frequently arise, he said, they are born out of the heart of the same Church. "The uniqueness of Christ is also a guarantee of novelty and renewal in the future," he said.

The very fact that there are Catholic women who want to be priests shows that the Church 'has' changed. Again, pragmatism. I can only think of one cause; that being that Catholic men don't pay enough respect to Catholic Sisters. Yes, I'm blaming YOU, the men. Perhaps not enough people seek guidance from nuns?

Hi Anonymous,

The word Church has a wide semantic range. With respect, you aren't using it in the same sense as His Holiness.

Yes, in fact I was pointing that out between the lines. I was trying to imply that while the Church hasn't changed in principle, the attitudes of the people have. The differences between Catholic Church and the Catholic People are becoming more apparent as my research accumulates, I'm sorry to say.

Congratulations on the new member of your family.

Thanks.

Perhaps the "smaller but more faithful" Church the Holy Father spoke of may come to be sooner rather than later then.

I for one hope so. I'm sick of seeing dissent go unchecked just about everywhere. I want to be taught the Catholic faith, not have to come to discover it from private study and lengthy reading.

Private study and lengthy readings are just a way of being taught the Catholic faith by those who are not here today.

The underlying theme I believe in and have been trying to express to other Catholics is that the Church has to maintain its governing force as a shepherd for the people. If there arises people who want to have same sex marriages, or women wanting to play the role of priests, then the church has to re-examine its methods of guidance. How has the Church allowed these sheep to become lost? Attempting to enforce the Church's position on people through the law of the land only takes away the Individual's freedom to be tested in this lifetime. If a man wishes to spend his days eating junk food, smoking pot, regularly visiting prostitutes and lying about his actions, then he should be free to do so, as long as his life doesn't affect the freedom of others. But the failure is not solely on the Individual, but also on the governing shepherd who only used a whip to guide him.

The Church must be more than politics. It must inspire the Individual. Like the Bass frequency of a song, it controls the song, it shapes it and guides all other frequencies, and most often, the listeners aren't even aware of it's control, though they know its value.

Hi Anonymous,

Your comment pretends that the effects of sin are not also both ecclesial and cosmic.
